Once a leading & Progressive state, Maharashtra is fast loosing it's identity as a socially matured & cultured state. At least the news coming from the cultural capitol of Maharashtra, Pune are not encouraging. Few so called followers of Shivaji Maharaj are on the rampage & creating turbulence on the social front. Recently they have demanded to withdraw the statue of Dadoji Kondev, Guru / Teacher of Shivaji Maharaj from Lal Mahal (where Shivaji Maharaj & his Mother Jijabai used to stay in Pune) on the very account of he being from the Brahmin Cast. The matter doesn't end here. The consequences of this erratic demand has occurred into further arrogance of these people stating that henceforth, "Brahmin Scholars" should not write or speak on Shivaji.
This is a shameful act & a deliberate attempt of Breach of the very right of an Indian citizen to talk or to express his thoughts (the scholars who currently are on the black list of these people have never uttered any single word which would disturb or pollute the sanctity or the pride of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj). A venom is being injected & spread by these so called History Lovers in the society thru' their fiery campaigns running across the length & breadth of rural Maharashtra.
Recent brutal attack on Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, Pune & molesting of a Museum in Solapur depicting Murals & Sculptures on Life of Shivaji Maharaj, have origins in their hatred propaganda. Even they have not spared Shivaji Maharaja's Spiritual Guru, Samartha Ramdas.
It seems these people are enjoying Political backing from the ruling parties otherwise they would not have dared to utter such kind of ghastly language. As a consequence of the persistent movement against some renowned History Scholars ; Brahmin in particular; Ninadrao Bedekar a well known figure in this field recently declared that he has come to a conclusion that now onwards he would not write or speak on Shivaji.......We are sure many scholars & historians of his cast unwillingly would take the same path. After all every single individual has to live in the society around & can't survive by just remaining aloof from the other people.Therefore these scholars have no other option but to shut their mouths & just be a lone spectator of the things happening around.

We strongly feel that this is a sheer act of Dictatorship by few people who basically have nothing to do with Chattarapati Shivaji Maharaj or the real History for that matter.They are a fanatic bunch of people with political background & support ( For gaining political mileage from this issue ) who are here to create menace & disturbance in the society .
Every true follower of Shivaji Maharaj or any organization or a group, who believes in the Democracy, should join hands to condemn & flay the language used by the enemies of the society in the garb of Followers of Shivaji Maharaj. They are doing nothing but dividing the society on the basis of cast & creed. This situation reminds us the policy adopted by British in the pre-independence era ......Divide & Rule!! It is really a pity that we are retrieving on the same dirt tracks. If this continues, then well; it could lead to yet another Split in the society??.... A partition among ourselves on the basis of cast & community.

Please do not misinterpret this as being done to safeguard or protect interests of any community or cast for that matter. We are more concerned about the things happening around in our society & the repercussions of it which ultimately are going to affect us directly or indirectly in future. Moreover their attempts of twisting the History are also alarming.
Tomorrow you may well be the victim of such circumstances. Anything can happen in India / Maharashtra....
